BRI3 has beenselected as being one of the most prominent targets of Wnt/β-catenin pathway due to its transcriptional upregulationin hepatocellular carcinoma cells overexpressing themutant and degradation-resistant form of β-catenin.This upregulation was further supported by experimentalevidence coming from q-RT-PCR analyses, ChIP assay, luciferase reporter assay, and treatment of cells withlithium chloride, which leads to the activation ofWnt/βcatenin pathway(Kavak et al., 2010). Here, BRI3 is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
