PTGS2 and rheumatoid arthritis: At baseline, the randomized groups were well balanced for all demographic, anthropometric, and RA characteristics, antirheumatic and other therapies, and CVD risk factors, except for current smoking and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID) or cyclooxygenase 2 inhibitor (coxib) treatment, which were higher in the atorvastatin group than in the placebo group (18.4% versus 14.5% for current smoking and 42.9% versus 38.0% for NSAID or coxib treatment).
