A recent study has suggested that pharmacological activation of Nrf1 is protective in a mouse model of one age-dependent neurodegenerative condition – spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy (Bott et al., 2016), and our data indicates SKN-1A/Nrf1 is similarly protective in a C. elegans model of Alzheimer’s disease. This evidence concerns the gene POU2F3 and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
