In this respect, the INSIGHT START study resolved the last concerns for immediate initiation of antiretroviral therapy in asymptomatic HIV-1 infections as this study showed that this strategy was superior to deferral until the CD4 count declined to 350 cells/mm3 and that it was not associated with an increased rate of adverse events (INSIGHT START Study Group et al., 2015). The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is HIV-1 infection.
