The risk for breast cancer to age 80 is 72% for BRCA1 mutation carriers, and 69% for BRCA2 mutation carriers; the risk for ovarian cancer is 44% for BRCA1 carriers and 17% for BRCA2 carriers.1 Several surveillance and prevention options are available with the goals of early detection and of reducing cancer incidence and mortality. This evidence concerns the gene BRCA1 and ovarian carcinoma.
