Compared to the general population, the risk of breast cancer in BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutation carriers increases by 10‐ to 20‐fold (Ludwig, Neuner, Butler, Geurts, & Kong, 2016; Nelson, Huffman, Fu, Harris, & U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, 2005).
