Additionally, Uusitalo et al. demonstrated that women with NF1 have a five-fold increased risk of breast cancer mortality compared to the general population with a SMR of 5.2 (95% CI: 2.4–9.9) and found that when breast cancer survival was analyzed alone, 5-year survival was poorer in patients with NF1 compared with those without NF1 (67.9% vs. 87.8%, respectively) [11]. This evidence concerns the gene NF1 and neurofibromatosis type 1.
