While loss of HIF-2α did not compromise the proliferation rate of ccRCC cells in vitro41,42 (Supplementary Fig. 4g), HIF-2α ablation significantly reduced lipid peroxidation levels (Supplementary Fig. 4h–i), providing a strong indication of reduced susceptibility to ferroptosis. This evidence concerns the gene EPAS1 and nonpapillary renal cell carcinoma.
