Among the superfamily of UGT enzymes, UGT1 is strongly engaged in the metabolism of drugs used to treat epilepsy (UGT1A4) [147,148], schizophrenia (UGT1A3 and UGT1A4) [149], hypertension (UGT1A1, UGT1A3, UGT1A7, and UGT1A9) [150,151,152], and hypercholesterolemia (UGT1A1 and UGT1A3) [153,154,155,156]. This evidence concerns the gene UGT1A9 and familial hypercholesterolemia.
