CDH1 and neoplasm: Vimentin and E-cadherin are both proteins that are involved in the EMT; vimentin being a constituent of intermediate filament proteins which is highly expressed by mesenchymal cells, and thus correlates with accelerated tumor growth and invasion, while E-cadherin is a transmembrane glycoprotein involved in cell-cell adhesion which acts to limit EMT and metastasis [79,80].
