Although anti-GM2 IgM antibodies and anti-moesin IgG antibodies have been proposed to be the autoantibodies associated with CMV-related GBS [17–19], findings casting doubt on their contributory roles in the pathogenesis of GBS have also been reported [20, 21], and therefore a role for pathogenic autoantibodies remains unclear in CMV-related GBS. This evidence concerns the gene CD40LG and Guillain-Barre syndrome.
