As reported previously, Reg4 is atranscriptional target of GATA6 in colon cancer cells.31 It has also been reportedthat Reg4 is a direct target of the intestinaltranscriptional factor CDX2.32 In the present study, we identifiedReg4 as a novel target gene of ATF2, a memberof the leucine zipper family of DNA-binding proteins,33,34 which has been shown to play an importantrole in many of the inflammatory responses.35,36 It reported that GATA6 acts in combinationwith other transcriptional factors, including TCF437 andCDX2,38 to stimulate or repress Reg4 gene expression. Here, CDX2 is linked to malignant colon neoplasm.
