GH1 and Hyperkalemia: Another finding that merits further investigation is that nephroprotection appeared to be partially explained by mechanisms—additional to those related to slowed kidney volume growth—similar to those of renin angiotensin system inhibitors, such as amelioration of hyperfiltration [14] and reduction of proteinuria, effects that in this specific context could be mediated by inhibited growth hormone secretion and action [30] and, notably, are not associated with hyperkalemia.
