Following Ma et al., liver specimen from NASH and ASH patients showed a moderate CD8 T cell infiltrate, but fewer CD4 T cells and a lower CD4/CD8 ratio than serum ALT- and AST-matched specimen from viral hepatitis specimen (Bohne et al., 2014; Ma et al., 2016). The gene discussed is CD8A; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
