CREB3L2 is a transcription factor that is expressed in most tissues, with strongest expression in placenta, amongst other organs; whereas AKR1D1 reduces cholesterols, including progesterone and testosterone, to 5-β-reduced metabolites, and is associated with neonatal cholestasis, a metabolic disease of infants that presents as jaundice. This evidence concerns the gene CREB3L2 and Other metabolic disease.
