The levels of HSF1 and its activity are strongly depleted in the striatum of patients with HD and in cell and mouse models of HD (Hay et al., 2004; Labbadia et al., 2011; Chafekar and Duennwald, 2012; Riva et al., 2012; Maheshwari et al., 2014; Gomez-Pastor et al., 2017a). This evidence concerns the gene HSF1 and Huntington disease.
