INS and Hypoglycemia: Unanticipated dislodgement of feeding tubes, temporary discontinuation of nutrition because of nausea or for administration of medication or diagnostic testing, and cycling of nutritional support with oral intake all necessitate a high level of vigilance among health-care professionals, including frequent blood glucose monitoring, regular adjustment of insulin doses, and pre-emptive administration of carbohydrates to minimise the risk of hypoglycaemia.
