Several studies suggested the potential biomarkers include soluble c-Kit and hepatocyte growth factor in plasma, and VEGFA amplification in tumor tissues as predictive markers [5, 6], or alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), alkaline phosphatase, angiopoietin 2, VEGF, and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio in the blood as prognostic markers [5, 7]; however, these biomarkers have not been validated or translated into clinical practice. The gene discussed is AFP; the disease is neoplasm.
