Expression of a variety of EDMD and DCM LMNA variants in fruit fly resulted in a host of nuclear aberrations such as lamin-C aggregates and/or increased nuclear blebbing, which are similar to what were previously observed in transfected cells expressing striated muscle laminopathy mutations [53,93,96]. The gene discussed is LMNA; the disease is Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy.
