ESR1 and breast carcinoma: Noteworthy, in their early case–control study Mulay et al. [22] demonstrated the increase of Mn concentration in malignant human breast tissues with respect to their normal counterparts, whereas Dearth et al. [8] reported that exposure of prepubertal rats to environmentally relevant high Mn concentrations increases their susceptibility to breast cancer risk via upregulation of ERα and associated proteins.
