ERBB2 and triple-negative breast carcinoma: Triple-negative breast cancers (TNBC) are characterized by a highly “aggressive” malignant potential thereby being usually associated with worse prognosis than other breast tumor types, due to the lack of expression of estrogen and progesterone receptors and HER2/neu, which renders these neoplastic cells poorly responsive to hormonal therapies and to HER2-targeting drugs [5].
