The CDO1 protein is a non-heme structured, iron-containing metalloenzyme involved in conversion of the cysteine to cysteine sulfinic acid (CSA), while it can promote apoptosis by increasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) through suppression of glutathione generation in breast cancer cells [15], thus suggesting that CDO1 is a TSG in the context of pseudo-inflammatory reaction during carcinogenesis. This evidence concerns the gene CDO1 and breast carcinoma.
