By exploring the relationship between innate immunity and HCV-related disorders we found that the IFNL3 C rs12979860 and TLR2 -196-174 ins polymorphisms, both associated with interferon-treatment response and spontaneous HCV-clearance as well as with lower HCV viral load, are associated with a decreased risk of HCV-related diseases and delay the occurrence of cirrhosis and HCC (De Re et al., 2016). This evidence concerns the gene IFNL3 and Cirrhosis.
