Taking targeted drug osimertinib as an example, in NSCLC patients with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) T790M mutation, the median duration of progression-free survival (PFS) was significantly longer with osimertinib than with platinum-pemetrexed (10.1 vs. 4.4 months; HR: 0.30; 95% CI, 0.23–0.41; P < 0.001); the objective response rate (ORR) were 71% vs. 31% (odds ratio, 5.39; 95% CI, 3.47–8.48; P < 0.001) (Mok et al., 2017). Here, EGFR is linked to non-small cell lung carcinoma.
