Such an unfavorable prognostic impact of high MACC1 and S100A4 expression at primary diagnosis has already been reported by our group and by independent investigators for a variety of other solid cancer entities, including CRC, gastric cancer, pancreatic cancer or glioblastoma (Burock et al., 2015; Hagemann et al., 2013; Huang et al., 2016; Kikuchi et al., 2006; Stein et al., 2009a); this either among primary‐tumor or blood‐based approaches. The gene discussed is S100A4; the disease is glioblastoma.
