We showed that (a) MACC1 mRNA transcripts are detectable in plasma of patients with CRC or gastric cancer, (b) they are significantly elevated compared to healthy controls, and that (c) high levels of circulating MACC1 transcripts indicate poor survival (Ashktorab et al., 2016; Burock et al., 2015; Lederer et al., 2015; Rohr et al., 2017; Stein et al., 2012). Here, MACC1 is linked to colorectal carcinoma.
