The greater number of macrophages in CCR2−/− kidneys at day 15 after I/R were inhibited by CLs injection (Fig. 4e) which correlated with a reduced number of Ly6C− macrophages rather than Ly6C+ macrophages (Fig. 4f), suggesting that depleting Ly6C− macrophages mitigated AKI-induced fibrosis in CCR2−/− mice. Here, CCR2 is linked to acute kidney injury.
