ACE belongs to a family of zinc metallopeptidases and produce the cleavage of the C‐terminal dipeptide from angiotensin I to release angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor.3 The inhibition of ACE is considered important target for treatment of hypertension.4 However, the administration of synthetic ACE inhibitors, such as captopril, lisinopril, and enalapril, has been reported to have adverse side effects.5 Thus, there has been an increasing interest in development of the natural antihypertensive compounds and ACE inhibitors as alternative for lowering BP.6 The gene discussed is ACE; the disease is Hypertension.
