Among the subtypes of type 1 diabetes, slowly progressive type 1 diabetes (otherwise known as latent autoimmune diabetes in adults) is a form of autoimmune diabetes defined by GADA‐RIA positivity, which is initially diagnosed as type 2 diabetes, as the subsequent gradual loss of β‐cell function progresses towards insulin dependency within several years after diagnosis7. Here, INS is linked to type 1 diabetes mellitus.
