Infection of porcine alveolar macrophages with NH/P68 results in (i) the induction of significant levels of IFN-β, (ii) phosphorylation of STING, (iii) traffic of STING through the Golgi to perinuclear punctuated structures, and (iv) localization of IRF3 to the nuclear soluble fraction and binding to chromatin. The gene discussed is IRF3; the disease is infection.
