However, when considering our study results as well as others, two important observations can be made: (1) Hepcidin concentrations may be higher in women with obesity, even when statistical models control for inflammatory biomarker concentrations; and (2) inflammatory markers are repetitively higher in the Ob group in comparative studies [18,19,22,23] but are not directly associated to hepcidin [13,18,19,21,22,23].
