VEGFC and neoplasm: So far, VEGF‐C is considered to be a major pro‐lymphangiogenic growth factor that can up‐regulate lymphatic vessel density and promote the tumour cells metastasize to lymphatic node.35, 36 Interestingly, our results revealed that the level of SMVs possessed a positive correlation with the expression level of VEGF‐C in OSCC tumour samples, suggesting a close association between SMVs and the lymph node metastasis of OSCC.
