ERBB2 and breast cancer: In the HER2-negative subgroup, three prospective clinical trials demonstrated antitumour efficacy with anti-androgen treatment5–7 and with long-term responders.8 In the HER2-positive subgroup, encouraging preliminary results have been reported from a Simon 2-stage phase-two study.9 These data have reinforced the interest in the MA subtype and the logical next step would be to evaluate these anti-androgen treatments in patients with MA early breast cancer, at least in the HER2-negative group.
