Dectin‐1 is involved in fungal‐mediated allergic inflammation mediating T‐helper 17 (Th17) cell differentiation.55, 56 Genetic polymorphisms of Dectin‐1, TLR3, and TLR9 are significantly associated with susceptibility to severe asthma with fungal sensitization.57 Dectin‐2 has been implicated in allergic inflammation to house dust mites with Th2 polarization.58, 59, 60 A recent study shows that Mincle recognizes not only glycolipids but also self‐derived cholesterol sulfate in skin epithelial cells and is involved in the induction of allergic skin inflammatory response.61 This evidence concerns the gene CLEC7A and asthma.
