GFAP and diabetic retinopathy: There was significantly stronger staining of GFAP in vehicle-treated compared to control but with LBP treatment the GFAP staining was notably reduced suggesting less gliosis when giving LBP treatment [25].This study demonstrates LBP's ability to protect retinal neurons and could be applied in the prevention or slowing the progression of diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and retinopathy of prematurity.
