Moreover, there was a statistical joint effect between the MMP9 and MMP13 polymorphisms in NSCLC patients and controls; significantly different frequencies were founded among subjects carrying both the MMP9 CC and MMP13 GG genotypes in cases and controls (14.29% vs. 3.67%), the subject of carrying MMP9 CC and MMP13 GG genotypes showed a significantly increased risk of NSCLC (p < 0.01, OR = 5.34) compared with other genotypes. Here, MMP13 is linked to non-small cell lung carcinoma.
