Interestingly, hyperactivation of PI3K/Akt pathway is often associated with cancer progression (Morgan et al., 2009; Advani, 2010; Fumarola et al., 2014; Porta et al., 2014) and surprisingly contributes to AD pathology during aging (Pei and Hugon, 2008; Talbot et al., 2012).
