Our novel findings showed a lack of tPA expression in the ovaries of both control and PCOS mice, however the presence and potential role of the fibrinolytic/proteolytic markers PAI-1, uPA, plasminogen and plasminogen/plasmin were demonstrated in the physiological and pathological ovaries of healthy controls and PCOS mice, respectively. The gene discussed is PLAU; the disease is polycystic ovary syndrome.
