(i) IL-1ß gene polymorphisms have been found in association with MG, suggesting a possible pathogenic role of this cytokine in the disease (42); (ii) Anakinra reduced the clinical symptoms of mice with experimental autoimmune MG (EAMG) and suppressed the pathogenic anti-AChR IgG1 (41); (iii) inhibition of proteins involved in the production of IL-1ß, such as caspase-1, can regulate the humoral response in EAMG (43). The gene discussed is IL1A; the disease is myasthenia gravis.
