As part of the phylum Deferribacteres, Mucispirillum has been shown to be associated with both inflammatory markers (El Aidy et al., 2014) and active colitis in a T-bet-/- Rag2-/- mouse model (Berry et al., 2012; Rooks et al., 2014) and was even associated with Citrobacter rodentium infection (Hoffmann et al., 2009). This evidence concerns the gene RAG2 and colitis.
