Another study has demonstrated that EGCG (EppiGalloCatechin Gallate), a polyphenolic compound found in green tea, had the ability to inhibit Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL) cells proliferation and to induce apoptosis by downregulating epigenetic modifiers such as DNMT1, HDAC1, HDAC2, the histone methyl transferase (HMT) G9a and some components of the Polycomb Repressive Complex 2 (PRC2) (6). Here, PRDM9 is linked to acute promyelocytic leukemia.
