This is surprising because hematopoietic deletion of several CLRs that signal via CARD9 so far yielded either no effect on atherosclerosis (i.e. Dectin-110 and Dectin-2 in the current study) or a protection from atherosclerotic lesion development (i.e. Mincle11) in Ldlr−/− mice. Here, CLEC6A is linked to atherosclerosis.
