In GWAS analyses, different SNPs of the CYP24A1 gene have been related to vitamin D levels (Manousaki et al., 2017; Jiang et al., 2018), to calcium levels (O’Seaghdha et al., 2013), and even to glomerular filtration rate (Mahajan et al., 2016; Pattaro et al., 2016), but to the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that the rs2248359 polymorphism has been associated to CKD. Here, CYP24A1 is linked to chronic kidney disease.
