Possible explanations for the discrepancy between studies are that the distinct isoforms of VEGF-B and VEGF-D occur in human normal tissues and CRC at varying levels and that primers and antibodies used for respective detections of VEGF-B and VEGF-D mRNAs and proteins vary with their spliced variants, isoforms, primer sequences, and/or antibody affinity employed10,11,33–38.
