Recent studies reported that DPP-4 inhibitors including sitagliptin and alogliptin exerted pleiotropic effects in modulating cardiovascular disorders, in which sitagliptin attenuated intimal hyperplasia in response to vascular injury in rats; alogliptin reduced atherosclerotic lesions in a mouse model (Shah et al., 2011; Matsubara et al., 2012; Ishii et al., 2014); however, to the best of our knowledge, whether the latest DPP-4 inhibitors, vildagliptin, has any effect on the injury induced intimal hyperplasia has not yet been investigated. Here, DPP4 is linked to cardiovascular disorder.
