Coincidently, Oliveira et al found that higher miR‐100 expression was associated with presence of 12;21 translocation (ie, TEL/AML1 fusion gene), lower level of white blood cells at diagnosis (<50 000/mm3), and hyperdiploid negative in pediatric ALL subjects.10 These observation provided evidence for involvement of miR‐100 in underlying biology of childhood ALL. The gene discussed is RUNX1; the disease is acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
