Genetic ablation of either HIP14 or HIP14L recapitulates many features of HD, including striatal atrophy and motor deficits; the phenotype of these two mouse models is thought to result from underpalmitoylation of their cellular substrates (Singaraja et al., 2011; Sutton et al., 2013; Sanders and Hayden, 2015). This evidence concerns the gene ZDHHC17 and Huntington disease.
