Together, these results strongly suggest a link between mutant Htt and early enhanced excitotoxic vulnerability of striatal neurons in HD through altered GluN2B palmitoylation by HIP14L, one of two unique Huntingtin-interacting PATs, that differentially interact with and modulate the palmitoylation of GluN2B on the two Cys clusters (Figure 8). This evidence concerns the gene ZDHHC13 and Huntington disease.
