Interestingly, the TCGA GBM RNA-Seq dataset analysis showed that the most aggressive molecular subtype of GBM, the mesenchymal one, presented the highest expression of CD99. Functional analyses using U87MG, a GBM mesenchymal subtype model, demonstrated that reducing the expression of CD99 decreases migration and invasion of the tumor cells. This evidence concerns the gene CD99 and neoplasm.
