At the clinical level, anti‐EGFR monoclonal antibody (cetuximab) in combination with radiation or chemotherapy is currently approved as a targeted therapy for the treatment of selected HNSCC patients, even if gain of EGFR has not been clearly demonstrated to be predictive for the outcomes following cetuximab therapy (Bonner et al., 2006; De Pauw et al., 2018; Licitra et al., 2011). The gene discussed is EGFR; the disease is head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
