ARDS survival was associated with lower A(1–10) concentration (OR 0.36, 95% CI 0.18–0.72, p = 0.004) but higher A(1–9) concentration (OR 2.24, 95% CI 1.15–4.39, p = 0.018), a biologically active metabolite of A(1–10) and an agonist of angiotensin II receptor type 2. The gene discussed is AGTR2; the disease is acute respiratory distress syndrome.
