CTNS and Patent foramen ovale: In one study, 63% ofcases with right ventricular dilatation had elevated cTns, whereas 29% of caseswith positive cTns had a normal end-diastolic diameter.(61) cTnI was alsoassociated with more segmental defects on ventilation/perfusion scintigraphy. However, hypoxia secondary to the decrease in the ventilation/perfusion ratio, hypoperfusion due to shock and coronary flow decrease, and systemic vein tocoronary artery embolism by patent foramen ovale can also be considered originsof the cTn elevation.
