BMAL1 and gastric cancer: In silico analysis indicated that rs2279284 is located in the transcriptional factor binding sites, while rs1044432 within the microRNA binding region of BMAL1. Jiang et al have recently demonstrated that miR‐135b‐induced BMAL1 repression by direct 3′‐UTR targeting promotes pancreatic tumourigenesis and chemoresistance.48 Therefore, these two SNPs could influence BMAL1 gene expression, mRNA stability, or protein function in GC cells and finally affect the aggressiveness of GC.
